Graha Transit Anugraha Sankalpa Siddhagama Yajna Based on the Vakya Method of the Pambu Panchangam
INTRODUCTION
The Movement of Time and the Karmic Philosophy of the Shadow Planets
Within the supreme cosmic movement of the Divine, Time is the great principle that governs the emergence, growth, experience, transformation, and fulfilment of all living beings. Jyotisha Shastra is the sacred science of wisdom that seeks to understand the subtle movements of Time and examine the ways in which they manifest in the various dimensions of human life. The distinctive excellence of traditional Jyotisha lies in its integrated study of planetary transits, zodiacal positions, stellar lordships, house relationships, planetary aspects, conjunctions, and Dasha–Bhukti periods in order to understand the course of an individual's life.
The purpose of this work is to explore, through the Nadi Nigandu method, the philosophical principles, significations, temporal influences, and karmic relationships of the planets, drawing guidance from the wisdom traditions revered in the names of Maharishis Agastya, Bhrigu, and Nandi. Respecting the principles of these ancient wisdom traditions, this work is presented as a Guru-mantra-based guide that brings together astrological interpretation and sacred worship.
THE DISTINCTIVE NATURE OF THE SHADOW PLANETS
Among the nine planetary influences in Jyotisha, Rahu and Ketu are known as the shadow planets, or Chhaya Grahas. In astronomical terms, the northern and southern points of intersection between the apparent path of the Sun and the orbital path of the Moon are respectively designated as Rahu and Ketu in astrological calculations. Although they are not physical luminous celestial bodies, they are associated with the astronomical conditions underlying eclipses and are recognised in Jyotisha as planetary principles possessing distinctive significations.
The concept of shadow should not be understood merely as darkness. It may also be understood as a philosophical symbol representing unseen causes, concealed karmic connections, latent desires, unexpected turning points, and experiences that lie beyond the immediate comprehension of the human intellect. For this reason, Rahu and Ketu occupy an important place in both worldly experiences and spiritual pursuits, according to their positions in an individual's horoscope.
Rahu is associated with worldly expansion, desire, ambition for authority, novel experiences, foreign connections, emerging technologies, research, politics, commerce, public relations, and activities operating behind the visible sphere. Rahu represents the force that intensifies human aspirations and encourages individuals to move beyond familiar boundaries in pursuit of new opportunities. When favourably connected with strong planetary influences, Rahu is traditionally understood to confer progress in emerging fields, recognition, research capabilities, professional expansion, and opportunities abroad. When its associations are weakened or afflicted, however, it may manifest through impulsive decisions, excessive desires, misplaced confidence, mental uncertainty, and concealed complications.
Ketu is traditionally explained as possessing an inward and contrasting philosophical nature. It is revered as the significator of wisdom, detachment, renunciation, intuition, spiritual inquiry, esoteric knowledge, research, subtle intelligence, and karmic connections associated with previous births. Ketu represents the planetary principle that encourages individuals to examine the deeper meaning of worldly experiences, release unnecessary attachments, and move towards inner clarity.
Since these two planetary nodes occupy opposite zodiacal positions, their relationship is known in Jyotisha as the Rahu–Ketu axis. In the sphere of life where Rahu stimulates expansion and experience, Ketu may bring detachment, completion, withdrawal, or inward contemplation in the opposing sphere. Therefore, these two planetary principles must not only be examined individually but also interpreted through their mutual relationship.
DETERMINATION OF THE TRANSIT PERIOD
The Rahu–Ketu transit examined in this work is based on the traditional calculations of the Vakya Method of the Pambu Panchangam. Different systems of Panchanga calculation may produce variations in planetary transit timings and positions. Accordingly, all astrological interpretations and worship timings presented in this work are to be understood within the computational framework of the specified Vakya-method Panchangam.
According to the transit positions adopted for this work, Rahu occupies Aquarius and Ketu occupies Leo before the transit. Following the transit, Rahu moves into Capricorn and Ketu moves into Cancer. This forms the computational foundation of the present study. The manner in which this transition operates through the houses of all twelve zodiac signs, and the possible changes it may bring to family life, profession, finances, education, marriage, progeny, health, foreign connections, and spiritual pursuits, will be examined in detail in the subsequent sections.
ASTROLOGICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF THE RAHU–KETU TRANSIT
Whenever a planet changes its zodiacal position, it assumes a new house-related influence from its transit position. The significations of that house, the condition of its ruling planet, the strength of the ruling star, and the aspects and conjunctions of other planets are all important in determining the results of the transit. The same principle applies to the transit of Rahu and Ketu.
Experiences that were previously concentrated in one particular sphere of life may begin to manifest in another sphere after the transit. For some individuals, new opportunities may emerge. For others, circumstances may arise that enable the resolution of long-standing difficulties. For yet others, the period may signify a time when priorities and directions in life need to be reconsidered.
These transits should not be interpreted merely as general zodiacal predictions. They must be examined in conjunction with the birth Ascendant, natal Moon sign, natal Rahu–Ketu positions, their respective nakshatras, the strength of the ruling planets, and the operating Dasha–Bhukti periods. Only through such an integrated examination can the individual significance of a transit be properly understood. This work will therefore present general predictions for all twelve zodiac signs while also explaining the important factors that must be considered in an individual horoscope.
JYOTISHA SHASTRA AND THE SIDDHAGAMA YAJNA
Jyotisha reveals the nature and tendencies of Time, while Agamic worship provides an ordered spiritual discipline through which one may live with divine awareness during that period. The fundamental purpose of Graha Shanti is to understand the experiences that may arise through planetary movements and cultivate the mental maturity, righteous thought, devotion, charity, spiritual discipline, and mantra practice required to meet them with composure.
On this foundation, the present work combines astrological interpretations with the Anugraha Sankalpa Siddhagama Yajna tradition. The prescribed sequence of worship includes Guru Vandana, Vinayaka worship, Rahu–Ketu Kalasha Avahana, Shodashopachara Puja, Gayatri Japa, Nama Archana, Maha Sankalpa, Homa, Purnahuti, Deeparadhana, and concluding prayers. These sacred observances are presented as spiritual disciplines intended to cultivate faith, self-discipline, peace, and benevolent thoughts in the hearts of devotees.
Worship of Lord Rahu is undertaken with prayers for discernment, clarity, and the mental strength to face obstacles. Worship of Lord Ketu is undertaken with prayers for wisdom, intuition, detachment, and spiritual maturity. The Shanti worship of these two planetary principles should embrace a Sankalpa that unites worldly welfare with spiritual elevation. Along with prayers for individual and family well-being, the broader purpose of this worship includes the welfare of all living beings, the preservation of natural resources, the establishment of Dharma, and the growth of wisdom within the Guru Parampara.
ANUGRAHA GUIDANCE FOR THE TWELVE ZODIAC SIGNS
Based on the transit of Rahu into Capricorn and Ketu into Cancer, the effects upon all twelve zodiac signs, from Aries to Pisces, will be examined individually. The house occupied by Rahu, the house occupied by Ketu, the condition of their respective ruling planets, and their transit relationships with Jupiter and Saturn will be considered together.
The analysis will cover family life, profession, business, employment, education, marriage, prospects of progeny, property, foreign travel, financial circumstances, mental peace, and spiritual development. The results will not be presented as uniform or inevitable outcomes for everyone born under a particular sign. Instead, they will be interpreted according to planetary strength, house lordship, and the connections within the natal horoscope.
Appropriate guidance will also be provided to encourage constructive action during challenging periods, avoid impulsive decisions, preserve family harmony, and maintain a steady mind through devotion and spiritual discipline.
THE HIGHER PURPOSE OF ANUGRAHA SANKALPA
Graha Shanti is not a form of worship founded upon fear of the planets. It is a spiritual discipline through which one understands the nature of Time, refines one's actions, and learns to live in accordance with Dharma.
Mantra Japa cultivates concentration of the mind. Homa nurtures the spirit of offering and surrender. Charity develops compassion and concern for the welfare of other living beings. Fasting and worship strengthen self-restraint and personal discipline. In this manner, the sacred practices associated with Graha Shanti help guide both the inner life and outward conduct of an individual towards a righteous path.
Through this work, our purpose is to understand the astrological significance of the Rahu–Ketu transit, undertake the corresponding Anugraha Sankalpa Siddhagama Yajna with devotion, and pray for family welfare and universal well-being as one integrated aspiration.
Jyotisha wisdom reveals the movement and nature of Time.
Agamic wisdom provides the discipline of sacred worship.
The grace of the Guru guides us to unite knowledge and devotion in our lives.
With reverence for the Agastya–Bhrigu–Nandi Nadi Nigandu tradition, this work is humbly offered as a guide to the Graha Transit Anugraha Sankalpa Siddhagama Yajna, based on the Vakya Method of the Pambu Panchangam.
